Dr. Mona Ramadan ElTantawy, from Mansoura, Egypt, obtained her bachelor's degree in medicine and surgery at Mansoura University in 2013 and her master's degree in neuropsychiatry in 2019. Dr. Ramadan is currently completing her doctorate at Mansoura University.

Dr. Ramadan has seven years of experience in the addiction field providing cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and has conducted many support groups for medically ill patients. Dr. Ramadan also conducts research and trains mental health professionals in psychiatry.

During her fellowship, Dr. Ramadan plans to gain more experience in trauma-oriented substance use rehabilitation, learn more about animal-assisted therapy in addiction service provision, and become familiar with recent developments and best practices in drug abuse policy, prevention and treatment. With this knowledge, she wishes to decrease substance abuse stigma and improve the quality of care in addiction services in her country. In particular, Dr. Ramadan wishes to establish a rehabilitation center in her region that is trauma oriented and draws upon a variety of psychotherapeutic modalities such as family therapy, internal family systems and animal-assisted therapy.
