Lorato Koosaletse
Botswana
Lorato Koosaletse from Botswana holds a Master of Social Health (Applied Psychology) from Macquarie University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology from Bond University, and multiple international certifications. She is a certified Master Trainer for the International Society of Substance Use Prevention and Treatment Professionals’ (ISSUP) Universal Treatment Curriculum (UTC) and Women’s Intervention for Substance Exposure (WISE), and is committed to gender-responsive and trauma-informed care. Lorato has over 20 years of experience in clinical counselling, addiction treatment, and program management.
As the Clinical Programme Manager at the Botswana Substance Abuse Support Network (BOSASNet), Ms. Koosaletse leads national training, supervises clinical services, and coordinates outreach and awareness programs. She has trained over 150 professionals in substance use counseling and serves on several national technical committees addressing AIDS, tobacco, and public health.
Through the Humphrey Fellowship at VCU, Ms. Koosaletse aims to enhance her leadership knowledge and skills in public health and policy development, particularly in trauma-informed and women-centered care. Her ultimate goal is to support national reforms, expand training programs, and strengthen Botswana’s mental health and addiction services through evidence-based strategies and sustainable policy advocacy.
