Dr. Hari Nugroho obtained his bachelor's degree in Medicine from the University of Trisakti, Jakarta, in 2010, and a master's degree in Addiction Studies from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience at King's College London in 2018.
Dr. Nugroho has served on the National Narcotic Board of Indonesia since 2011. In his latest role as a Program Officer in Counseling, he is instrumental in both providing treatment services and developing drug policies. As a lecturer at the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Trisakti since 2021, Dr. Nugroho imparts vital knowledge on substance abuse policy, prevention, and treatment to medical students. His dual role in policy development and education positions him uniquely to influence both the present and future landscape of substance abuse management in Indonesia.
Dr. Nugroho’s goals for the Humphrey Fellowship include an in-depth exploration of new psychoactive substances; adolescent drug use, prevention, and treatment methodologies; trauma-informed care, and digital interventions for substance abuse. Through the Humphrey Fellowship, he seeks to acquire cutting-edge knowledge and skills that will enable him to further contribute to the field of substance abuse, particularly in the Indonesian context.
