Vincent Gumbi Ochola

Vincent Gumbi Ochola from Nairobi, Kenya, holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Administration from Kenyatta University. He is a Senior Standards and Compliance Officer with Kenya’s Prisons Service with 15 years of experience in the corrections system. Mr. Ochola is a Certified Security Investigator with advanced investigative training from Rashtriya Raksha University (India) and senior management training from the Kenya School of Government.
His career includes service with the United Nations in South Sudan, where he contributed to the protection of civilians in post-conflict settings. He received a Head of State Commendation (HSC) for exemplary public service and a United Nations Medal for his peacekeeping contributions. Throughout his career, Vincent has played a key role in promoting accountability and compliance within correctional institutions. With his team, he has led substance abuse awareness efforts during facility inspections, addressed inmate and staff complaints, and developed strategies to mitigate fraud and corruption risks. His work has contributed significantly to advancing ethical and effective corrections practices.
During his fellowship, Vincent aims to learn about Substance Abuse Education, Treatment, and Prevention, and interventions that can address the high prevalence of substance-related issues among inmates and staff in correctional environments in his home country.
