Mrs. Gulbarchyn Toialieva, from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, is a conflict prevention and peace building specialist. Mrs. Toialieva has bachelor’s degrees in finance (2004) and social work (2014). In 2016 she obtained an executive master’s degree in developmental policies and practices from Graduate Institute Geneva. For the past 15 years, Mrs. Toialieva has managed projects on peacebuilding and conflict prevention, with a focus on inter-ethnic, cross-border and religious issues within her country. In 2016, she founded Zhalyn, an NGO, in response to her country’s restrictions of the rights of young people and women to obtain education. Zhalyn was also founded to promote individual rights and freedoms. Mrs. Toialieva has extensive experience as a social worker, community mobilizer and manager of youth projects. She is the recipient of several scholarships and fellowships to support her training in civic conflict transformation and developmental practices and policies. During her fellowship, Mrs. Toialieva plans to focus on policy development and management related to conflict, with a specific emphasis on implications for psychological well-being and national security.
